Response to "Slice"

Posted by AKH

After reading "Slice" and the corresponding blog written by Lisa's parents, I noticed a few different things. In both blogs, the authors mention seeing a shape of an animal, but they don't know what animal it is, or where it comes from. This validated to me that it wasn't just Lisa making something up. In fact, the house might actually be haunted. Also, when Lisa's family finds out that Mary Jane (along with her family) has been killed in an accident, they discover that the reason for the accident was that a dark animal ran out in front of another car which caused the accident. Maybe this is a coincidence, or maybe it is showing some sort of connection to the house in London.

I also found it interesting to read Lisa's blog and then read her parents' version of the same story. Though they both are essentially the same, they offered different perspectives. Lisa thinks her parents are crazy for making her move from her home and her friends in Florida to a creepy old house in London. Her parents think that it is a wonderful idea that will help to  "get her away from the bad influences."

Both blogs leave off in the same place. The most recent post for each is saying that they are going to go through the hole in the brick wall to find out what is on the other side. Lisa is going through out of curiousity and because she wants to get away from her parents. The parents are going through to find Lisa.

The way in which both blogs are ended is very smart. The entries end by saying they're going into the hole, they don't know what they'll find, and to wish them luck. This keeps the reader wanting to know more about the story and what happens to Lisa and her parents after they enter the hole, which guarantees that people are going to stay interested and want to keep reading the blog.

Yea, I thought the use of two separate blogs was a nice touch. The ending was smart but I wish it would have a follow up...clues that make sense....etc.gv
